Sign Communique

Sign Communique creates Deaf training and educational materials for both the Deaf and hearing communities. We believe in Sign Language as a community language, and we have produced two CD-ROMs to teach Sign Language to people of all ages aong with videos.

Our products include CD-ROMs, books and videos, each dealing with a different aspect of deafness. Please see the quotes below to hear what people have said about our products.

Both our 'Sign It' and 'Simple Signs' CD-ROMs have been shortlisted as finalists in the BETTs education awards, sponsored by companies like The Times Educational Suplement, BT and Intel.

What they say about 'Sign It!':

"This is absolutely brilliant ... an exciting addition .. definitely fun to use."
(Alan Murray, CACDP)

"Excellent. We want more!"
(Bob Donnelly, Nechells Association for Community Education)

"The nearest thing to a course on disc."
(Special Children Magazine)

"I think the CD-ROM is great and could really help BSL students who don't have the chance to practise conversation outside the classroom."
(RNID One in Seven)

"... It is wonderful! ... let me congratulate you ... an excellent sign language resource"
(Deafness Resources Australia)

"Sign It! CD-Rom is a very useful and fun way to practice BSL."
(NDCS)

What they say about the "Signs for Success" manual & the "Simple Signs" CD-Rom:

"Experience shows that children and adults love it. It motivates, it aids concentration, it is inclusive, and it will help our (deaf and hearing) children to exploit their talents."
(Prof. Tim Brighouse, C.E. Birmingham LEA)

" ... could benefit a wide range of people including first time learners, BSL Stage 1 students, parents and deaf and hearing children of all ages."
(National Deaf Children's Society)

"We like the categories that are included. They cover exactly the vocabulary that is motivating for pupils ... i.e., they are signs they will want to use! We are sure it will prove to be a fun package for staff, pupils and parents."
(CACDP - The Standard)

"A useful learning tool to use to practise at home outside of your BSL course or real life signing environments."
(British Deaf News)

"Once again I am very impressed with the quality and appropriateness of the resources you have produced. Congratulations!"
(Deafness Resources, Australia)
